The River Forth between Edinburgh and the ‘Kingdom’ of Fife is unique in having three superb bridges of (when constructed) cutting-edge technology. Born and brought up in Edinburgh, my fascination with bridges is probably explained by the close proximity of these fine specimens (only one of which – the rail bridge – existed at the time of my birth.
